Backcountry Semester is an 11 week backcountry education & mentorship program designed to give you simple frameworks for understanding stability and making high consequence decisions. You will be in the room with backcountry skiers and riders on the same journey – all trying to hone their process and advance their skills.

Key details:
  • 10 Modules of Backcountry Education delivered live on Zoom, by the Backcountry Snow Safety Instructors
  • We cover 3 content areas: Snow science, risk management and technical systems
  • The Program is hosted in Mighty Networks, a Community Platform for interactive sessions and optional peer group work to follow each module
  • Online chat access to your peers and instructor
  • Recorded videos to teach technical systems step-by-step
  • The course runs from Oct 2 – December 18, with no class on Thanksgiving
  • Classes are held every Thursday from 530-630p MST live on Zoom
  • Each session will be accompanied by optional follow up group work
  • The program is designed for backcountry skiers who have completed at least an avalanche L1 course, or equivalent experience
  • The program is suited to intermediate and advanced backcountry travellers
  • You will get recordings of all calls to download, review and keep 
  • The course is $900 paid up front, one time fee
